The National Council for Culture and Arts ((スペイン語:Consejo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes)), also known as Conaculta, is a Mexican government agency in charge of the nation's museums and monuments, promoting and protecting the arts (visual, plastic, theatrical, musical, dance, architectural, literary, televisual and cinematographic), and managing the national archives. It was created in 1988 and is a decentralized body of the Secretariat of Public Education ((スペイン語:Secretaría de Educación Pública)). Conaculta is headed by a director, who serves as a member of the extended federal cabinet.
